Éric Rohmer è stato un regista, sceneggiatore, scenografo e operatore nel campo dello spettacolo della Nouvelle Vague. La musica a tratti ricorda i decenni passati della Seconda Guerra Mondiale con ritmi tipici degli anni Quaranta del Novecento che accompagnano i personaggi all’interno della narrazione. Importante è il fatto che le persone che si incontrano all’interno del film non sono attori professionisti, si rimane così in un’atmosfera estremamente realistica tipica della Nouvelle Vague.
Il bianco e nero si mischia con scene a colori in una composizione che risulta poetica e reale allo stesso tempo e questo non stanca e non annoia mai a livello visivo lo spettatore.
La telecamera riprende spesso i personaggi da dietro e li segue passo passo senza mai lasciare nessun dettaglio al caso, bellissime le inquadrature ai cartelloni cinematografici di Hiroshima Mon Amour, film manifesto della Nouvelle Vague e di Lawrence D’Arabia, grande classico del cinema di ogni epoca.
